The Application and Interview Process
There are two main phases in our School Direct recruitment process.
Part 1: The Application process – will ascertain that you fulfil the basic entry requirements (see below). Based on the information you have provided, we will assess whether we feel you have the subject knowledge, philosophy and passion for teaching, as well as the relevant experience, to be successful at one of our courses.

At this point, some applicants will be offered an interview and some will be given feedback for further improvement to support reapplying in the future.

Part 2: The Interview process – will be held in one of our alliance schools, in either an Early Years or a Primary setting, depending on the age range selected in your application.  There will be a range of activities during the interview including:

Successful applicants will be offered a conditional place, the conditions of which must be met prior to starting the course. All candidates will need to have passed a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check, have Fitness to Teach clearance, passed both the Literacy and numeracy Skills Tests and have confirmed all their qualifications prior to the course starting in September.
How to Apply
The School Direct Application System is through the UCAS Teacher Training website
(https://www.ucas.com/how-it-all-works/teacher-training), where you are able to apply for all Teacher Training routes.
Look for the LEAD SCHOOL which in this case is St. Mark's CofE School, Cumbria.
In preparing your application it is recommended that you have with you details of:
You will need to write a personal statement. This is your opportunity to sell yourself, to explain why you will make a fantastic teacher and to show that you have the attributes, educational philosophy and experience we are looking for.  Be enthusiastic!  Tell us why you want to be a teacher and why you have chosen to be an Early Years/ Primary teacher.
We recommend you ask someone to read your personal statement to give you feedback and check for grammatical, spelling and typing errors prior to submitting it.
Good luck with your application – we look forward to receiving it!
